Baidyanath Temple is an auspicious place of worship for Hindus, famous for being one of the 12 Jyotirlingas in India. It is believed to be the abode of Lord Shiva – the principal deity in Hinduism. Places to visit near Baidyanath Temple

Naulakha Temple

As the name suggests, Naulakha Temple was built with a budget of Rs 9 lakh. This 146 feet high temple is dedicated to the divine pair of Radha and Krishna and is one of the major places to visit in Deoghar apart from Baba Baidyanath Dham. The place is located close to the main temple (about 1.5 km), so reaching here will not feel like a chore.

Basukinath Temple

One of the most auspicious temples dedicated to Lord Shiva in the Indian states of Bihar and Jharkhand, Basukinath Temple is a must-visit on a pilgrimage to Baidyanath. There are two main temples in the complex, one dedicated to Lord Shiva and the other dedicated to Goddess Parvati, the consort of Shiva. These two temples are facing each other and are open in the evening. There are also other temples in the complex which are dedicated to other gods and goddesses.

Nandan Pahar

It is an amusement park situated on top of a hill in Deoghar and has a Nandi temple. Generally, people come to Nandan Pahar for picnics. There are many activities here that you and your group can get involved in, such as pleasure rides and boating. The theme houses, lush green gardens, and ponds here also attract a lot of tourists. Apart from this, the sunrise and sunset views from the top of this hill are simply mesmerizing.

Trikuta Mountains:

Trikuta Parvat (2,470 ft high) is named because of the topography of this place. The hill has three main peaks, hence the name. About a 10 km drive from Deoghar and later ropeway ride will take you to the top of the hill. The view from here is spectacular and will blow your mind! Monsoons with misty clouds, seasonal streams and waterfalls add to the beauty of the place.

Mayurakshi River

The beautiful Mayurakshi River originates from the Trikuta Mountains and passes through several districts of West Bengal. It finally joins the Hooghly River in its peak state. Visiting the banks of the Mayurakshi River while in Deoghar, followed by paying your respects at Baidyanath and other temples will be a serene experience.

Best time to go Visit Deoghar

The winter months – October to March are perfect for enjoying the pilgrimage to Baba Baidyanath Temple. This is when the Shravan Mela ends and most of the devotees are gone, so if you prefer fewer crowds then this is the perfect time for you. However, if you want to make the most of the grand event of Shravan Mela, then plan your visit for July-August.

Nearest Railway Station: Baidyanath Dham Railway Station, Deoghar, At the Railway station you can hire a taxi service in Deoghar to explore Deoghar.

There is no entry fee to enter the temple. To avoid crowds and long queues, it is advisable to plan your trips early in the morning.
